Health effects of tobacco
The health effects of tobacco are the circumstances, mechanisms, and factors of tobacco consumption on human health. Epidemiological research has been focused primarily on cigarette tobacco smoking,[1] which has been studied more extensively than any other form of consumption.[2]
Tobacco is the single greatest cause of preventable death in the United States[3] and worldwide.[4] Tobacco use leads most commonly to diseases affecting the heart and lungs, with smoking being a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (including emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and cancer (particularly lung cancer, cancers of the larynx and mouth, and pancreatic cancer). It also causes peripheral vascular disease and hypertension. The effects depend on the number of years that a person smokes and on how much the person smokes. Starting smoking earlier in life and smoking cigarettes higher in tarincreases the risk of these diseases. Cigarettes sold in underdeveloped countries tend to have higher tar content, and are less likely to be filtered, potentially increasing vulnerability to tobacco-related disease in these regions.[5]
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that tobacco caused 5.4 million deaths in 2004[6] and 100 million deaths over the course of the 20th century.[7] Similarly, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention describes tobacco use as "the single most important preventable risk to human health in developed countries and an important cause of premature death worldwide."[8]
Smoke contains several carcinogenic pyrolytic products that bind to DNA and cause many genetic mutations. There are over 19 known chemical carcinogens in cigarette smoke[citation needed]. Tobacco also contains nicotine, which is a highly addictive psychoactive chemical. When tobacco is smoked, nicotine causes physical and psychological dependency. Tobacco use is a significant factor in miscarriages among pregnant smokers, it contributes to a number of other threats to the health of the fetus such as premature births and low birth weight and increases by 1.4 to 3 times the chance for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).[9] The result of scientific studies done in neonatal rats seems to indicate that exposure to cigarette smoke in the womb may reduce the fetal brain's ability to recognize hypoxic conditions, thus increasing the chance of accidental asphyxiation.[10]Incidence of impotence is approximately 85 percent higher in male smokers compared to non-smokers,[11] and is a key factor causing erectile dysfunction (ED).[11][12][13]

CHOLESTEROL

Many people think that cholesterol is bad for health.  But, both good and bad cholesterol should be present in balanced amount in body otherwise it will lead to rise in heart attack, stroke and peripheral vascular disease.
Cholesterol is a fat - like substance  ( Lipid ) present in the membrance of each on of our cells.
           Human body needs cholesterol to
           a) build cellular membrances
           b) make harmones
           c) digest the good intake
Protein form a shell around the cholesterol making a " Cholesterol Complex".   A rptein that is linked to cholesterol to form this complex is called a lipoprotein.
TYPES OF CHOLESTEROL:-
          * HDL  =  High Density Lipoprotein > Good Cholesterol
          * VLDL= Very Low Density Lipoprotein
          * LDL = Low Density Lipoprotein > Bad Cholesterol

> HDL helps to remove cholesterol from artery walls and transport it to the liver for eliminating it from the body
> Higher HDL level protect against coronary heart disease < Lower HDL rist in heart disease.
 * LDL depositing cholesterol within the arteries and make them less flexible = Artherosclerosis
clot form > narrow artery > 1. heart attack
                                              2. stroke
To increase HDL levels:- 1. Exercise is a must ( measure your waist to hip ratio )
                                       2. Cessation of smoking
                                       3. Reduction of weight
Drugs like Niacin ( B vitamin ) will also helps in increase of HDL levels and in take of Hyderogenated Vegetable oil, fibres like oats, fruits, raw-vegetable,  fish, cronberry juice will help to increase HDL levels.
HDL increased rasing foods are  > food containing omega 3 faty acids > walnut> garlic, walnut, berries ( different kinds like straw berries, choke berries, black currant  and  rasp berries)

Omega 3 fatty acids => fish, groundnut, leafy greens, soya        )(
Fish=> salmon, tuna, herring, sardines   )(     = lowers triglycerides (TGL)

Omega 3 fatty acids decreases blood clots, artherosclerosis, blood pressure, rsik of heart attack, improve health arteries, irregular heart rhythms.

To decrease LDL levels:- 1. Decrease saturated fat intake
                                        2. Maintain good body composition
                                        3. increase dietary fiber
                                        4. increase aerobic exercises.
To Reduce LDL foods are :- 1. Plant streriods fortefied foods are 1.orange juice, yogurt drink, vegetable oil, sunflower seeds.
